To mark this year's Earth Day, musician and former Clean Bandit member, Love Ssega, is speaking up about toxic air pollution along the South Circular. Listen to his new single Our World (Fight for our Air) below, in partnership with Season for Change.
Ssega's new single brings the neglected stories and voices of the Black community into public debate on air quality. According to the Environmental Defense Fund Europe, London’s poorest areas and black, Asian and minority ethnic communities are hit hardest by toxic air.
Air pollution is an environmental and health crisis in cities around the world. In March 2021, the EU's top court ruled that the UK has broken legal limits for air pollution throughout the last decade. Air pollution was linked to the death in 2013 of nine-year-old Ella Adoo-Kissi-Debrah, who lived on the South Circular Road in Lewisham.
